WHY DO COMPANIES ALLOW DUAL BRANDING?

During a trip to Las Vegas for the 2006 US PPAI promotional products show, I noticed how many clothing items made for branding, already had a famous name on the product. Mostly it was the garment brands led by adidas, Nike, Columbia, Champion, Fruit of the Loom, Hanes and Gildan but also in quality desk products such as Waterman, Montblanc, Balmain, Jamie Oliver, Victorinox and so on.
